About The Position

The AI Architect is Alyeska’s hands-on technical lead for designing, implementing, documenting, and continuously improving the enterprise AI program across Information Technology (IT), Operational Technology (OT), and business functions. The role translates Alyeska’s AI strategy and governance requirements into an executable program, including technical architecture, implementation roadmaps, standards, processes, controls, documentation, and supporting solutions. The position designs and implements AI applications, assistants, agents, integrations, and automation, while establishing technical standards and repeatable delivery practices to scale AI responsibly. It takes solutions from concept through production, documents their architecture and operating model, guides technology decisions, and helps employees adopt AI effectively. Solutions must incorporate security and data protection, meet governance requirements, and preserve OT safety, reliability, and operational-control boundaries. This is a regular exempt, Anchorage-based position with an urban schedule of either a 40-hour week or a 9/80-work schedule. Employment is contingent on successfully passing a background investigation and pre-employment drug testing; a physical fitness test and medical exam may also apply in some cases. A TWIC may be required for work at the Valdez Marine Terminal or related approved work, as applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience establishing or materially contributing to an enterprise AI, automation, data, or technology program, including developing architectures, roadmaps, technical standards, implementation processes, governance controls, and operational documentation.
  • Hands-on experience delivering AI applications, assistants, or agents for business use on an enterprise AI platform.
  • Programming or scripting skills, such as Python, sufficient to build integrations, troubleshoot applications, and support deployment.
  • Working knowledge of secure AI and automation design, including data protection, access controls, and AI-specific risks.
  • Experience building AI solutions that retrieve enterprise information while respecting user permissions, and testing outputs for accuracy and reliability.
  • Working knowledge of version control, testing, release management, monitoring, and production support.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, explain tradeoffs, teach users, and coordinate work across teams.

  • Experience turning technology strategy into completed projects and reusable technical standards.
  • Experience developing AI literacy materials, delivering training, or supporting technology adoption.
  • Experience in critical infrastructure or industrial operations, including OT safety, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Maintain technical documentation needed to operate, govern, support, audit, and evolve AI capabilities.
  • Work with employees to simplify processes by building workflows and integrations using AI or conventional automation as appropriate.
  • Build and deploy AI applications, assistants, and agents that connect enterprise systems and information while preserving permissions and identifying sources.
  • Test solution accuracy, reliability, and security, including instruction manipulation, tool misuse, data exposure, failed transactions, and human-approval controls.
  • Evaluate platforms and vendors for suitability, security, integration, cost, and support.
  • Support AI literacy by providing practical training on approved tools, appropriate uses, limitations, data protection, and checking results.
  • Build security and data protection into solutions, meet governance requirements, and maintain OT safety, reliability, and boundaries around operational control systems.
  • Monitor use, reliability, costs, and results with business sponsors; establish documentation and support ownership; and improve or retire solutions as needed.
