About The Position

Under direction, plans, organizes, and supervises Eligibility staff in the registration and admitting department. Oversees eligibility determination and insurance verification processing to ensure a payer source is established before services are rendered. Also supervises PBX personnel and performs related duties as required.

Requirements

High school diploma.
At least one year of supervisory experience in a patient access department performing admitting and registration functions, cashiering, and healthcare billing, or 1–2 years of lead or supervisory work in a healthcare setting.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
1–2 years performing lead or supervisory work in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Attend meetings concerning the unit and maintain effective communication and working relationships with personnel in other units.
Attend Social Services Agency training on changes to aid regulations, interpret those changes, and train AHS staff on new regulations.
Coordinate the recording and accumulation of statistical information and prepare reports as required.
Coordinate the unit’s work with the requirements of other hospital and agency departments.
Evaluate employee performance and support employees’ professional development, including working shifts with employees during training and evaluation when needed.
Evaluate procedures, implement appropriate changes to procedures and forms, and provide staff training.
Handle complex complaints and problems requiring broad knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
Interview, select, train, and orient employees; schedule available staff on a rotating basis.
Prepare budget requests and control unit expenditures as needed.
Review Medi-Cal applications completed by the Financial Counselor for accuracy and completeness before forwarding them to the Social Services Agency.
