Southland Co-operative Ltd. is seeking an Agronomist to lead the agronomy function at their Agro Centre in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Southland Co-op operates 10 locations across 5 communities in south central Saskatchewan, with annual retail sales of 70 million. Requirements

  • Degree in agriculture
  • P. Ag. Designation
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of prairie cropping systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid drivers license

Responsibilities

  • Plan the day to day execution of the Agronomy Department.
  • Provide leadership, direction and oversight to agronomy operations, programs and policies to prepare, administer and achieve budgeted goals and objectives.
  • Achieve and maintain sales, margins and inventory targets for existing customers and expand sales to new customers.
  • Provide leadership to the team, including recruiting, goal setting, performance management, training and development of team members.
  • Build strong customer relationships, providing agronomic support, service and knowledge.
  • Ensure safety and environmental policies and procedures and standards are achieved.
  • Perform farm customer service responsibilities, including field scouting, agronomic troubleshooting, crop planning, fertility and crop protection recommendations.
