Agency LPNs are responsible for directing the daily activities of clinical staff in accordance with current regulations and policies. They follow a nursing model to promote holistic care for residents/patients, ensuring policies and procedures are followed. This role involves participating in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, assessing changes in patient status, and communicating with physicians and families. The LPN transcribes physician orders, administers medications, performs wound treatments, and schedules follow-up appointments. They provide nursing leadership, direct patient care skills (e.g., colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, IV administration), and perform regular rounds to ensure patient needs are met. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential, and participation in team meetings, QAPI activities, and survey processes may be required. The role also emphasizes maintaining dignity and respect for residents, promoting a culture of compliance, adhering to safety and hygiene measures, and maintaining confidentiality of protected health information. Reporting of noncompliance, retaliation, discrimination, abuse, neglect, or occupational exposures is mandatory. The LPN must also participate in emergency drills and trainings and report work-related injuries immediately.
