Agency RNs are responsible for directing the daily activities of clinical staff, promoting holistic care for residents/patients, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, assess changes in patient status, and manage physician orders. The role involves administering medications, performing wound treatments, scheduling follow-ups, and providing direct patient care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, and IV administration. RNs conduct regular rounds, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and report concerns or complaints. They also manage medication and supply inventory, update care plans, promote teamwork, and participate in survey processes and QAPI activities. Ensuring infection control principles are followed is a key responsibility. Additionally, RNs must treat all residents with dignity and respect, promote resident rights, and maintain a culture of compliance with all facility policies, procedures, and regulations. They are expected to follow safety and hygiene measures, maintain confidentiality of protected health information, and report any noncompliance, retaliation, discrimination, or allegations of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment. RNs must also report occupational exposures and participate in emergency drills and trainings, reporting work-related injuries immediately. Compliance with all standards, policies, and procedures is a condition of employment and will be a factor in performance evaluations.
