About The Position

LeafSpring Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Afterschool Teacher to help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for school-age children during out-of-school hours. The role supports hands-on activities, games, and group projects that promote creativity, teamwork, and social development. The teacher also helps manage daily routines, builds positive relationships, and ensures every child feels welcomed and supported.

Requirements

• Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to multitask, follow program structure, and adapt to children’s needs.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with children in afterschool programs, summer camps, child care, recreation, or youth development.
• Coursework or credentials in education, child development, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Support daily program routines, including creative activities, homework assistance, snack, and outdoor play.
• Assist with planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs.
• Supervise and actively participate with children during activities, games, and free play.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment aligned with state licensing regulations.
• Foster independence, teamwork, and positive peer interactions using positive guidance strategies.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a welcoming, enriching afterschool environment.
