Part-Time Afterschool Driver

About The Position

The Afterschool Driver safely transports students between local schools, The TEA Center, and approved drop-off locations during afterschool hours. The role requires punctuality, professionalism, and care for children’s safety. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with days potentially adjustable. Pay is $15 per hour.

Requirements

Valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Minimum driving experience; the posting leaves the specific age or number of years unspecified.
Ability to pass a background check and driving record check.
Reliability and punctuality, and comfort with traffic and school pick-up lines in the McLean area.
Patience and friendliness with children and teens.
Good communication skills with staff and parents.
Ability to work the full 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM shift consistently.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience driving children, such as school, daycare, or camp transportation.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Familiarity with the McLean/Fairfax County area.

Responsibilities

Pick up students from assigned schools starting at 2:30 PM and bring them safely to The TEA Center.
Drive students home or to approved drop-off points by 6:30 PM, following the daily route schedule.
Confirm each student’s attendance, pick-up, and drop-off with staff and parents or guardians.
Ensure all students are seated and buckled before the vehicle moves.
Maintain a calm, respectful, and orderly environment in the vehicle.
Follow traffic laws, safety procedures, and center policies.
Perform daily vehicle checks, including fuel, tires, and cleanliness, and promptly report any issues.
Communicate promptly with the center team about delays, schedule changes, or student concerns.
Keep transportation logs up to date.
