About The Position

The Aftercare Assistant will assist in the supervision of students who use the Aftercare Program at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish & School. This role requires the ability to work weekday afternoons when school is in session and to be a positive influence on the youth.

Requirements

Compliance with BCI&I background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program.
Support Parish Mission Statement and Diversity.
Adherence to Catholic Church Teaching statement.
Strong supervisory skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to maintain high ethical standards in all matters.
Ability to work and relate well with other staff and parishioners/school families.

Responsibilities

Ensure Student Safety by following Diocesan and Parish guidelines regarding safe environment and notifying supervisor of major issues or concerns.
Follow proper check-in and check-out procedures.
Provide consistent supervision.
Enforce Diocesan and Parish Safe Environment Procedures.
Organize the afternoon by structuring the afternoon to maintain order and ensure all spaces are prepared before student arrival.
Create a basic plan for each day based on attendance and student needs.
Include a balance of study, rest, and play in the daily plan.
Keep Supervisor up to date on Aftercare needs.
Engage with the Students by maintaining proper boundaries and ensuring students feel safe, valued, and cared for.
Get to know the students and their interests.
Actively participate in student conversations and activities.
Make the Aftercare program fun.
