About The Position

The Aftercare Assistant will assist in the supervision of students who use the Aftercare Program at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish & School. This role involves ensuring student safety, organizing the afternoon activities, and engaging with the students to create a positive and supportive environment.

Requirements

• Ability to work weekday afternoons when school is in session.
• Must be a positive influence on the youth.
• Compliance with BCI&I background checks.
• Completion of Protecting God's Children program.
• Support Parish Mission Statement and Diversity.
• Adherence to Catholic Church Teaching statement.
• Strong supervisory skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to maintain high ethical standards in all matters.
• Ability to work and relate well with other staff and parishioners/school families.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of students in the Aftercare Program.
• Ensure student safety at all times by following Diocesan and Parish guidelines.
• Organize the afternoon schedule to include study, rest, and play.
• Prepare spaces before student arrival.
• Engage with students to make them feel safe, valued, and cared for.
• Follow proper check-in and check-out procedures.
• Provide consistent supervision.
• Enforce Diocesan and Parish Safe Environment Procedures.
• Create a basic plan for each day based on attendance and student needs.
• Keep Supervisor up to date on Aftercare needs.
• Get to know students and their interests.
• Actively participate in student conversations and activities.
• Make the Aftercare program fun.
