After-School STEM/Coding Camp Instructor
About The Position
As a BrightBee After School STEM/Coding Program Associate, you’ll support students in local schools—helping them learn, grow, and succeed. Your day kicks off by welcoming students into a safe, supportive space after school for grades 3rd-5th. You’ll help them settle in, supervise activities, and offer a hand with homework when needed. Whether you’re leading a fun group activity, lending a listening ear to a student who needs support, or making sure everyone follows program rules, you’re creating a positive environment where kids can thrive. You’ll also stay in touch with parents and teachers, keep accurate attendance and behavior records, and make each afternoon count for the students in your care. During your interview we will go into detail about what assignments are available at these sites. The more sites and assignment types you are open to working, the more your earning potential is.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Demonstrated understanding of STEM/Coding subject matter
- Pass a background check
- Follow safety and reporting guidelines
- Complete required school clearances which you are responsible for paying.
- Prior to working with students, you will need to pass a background check, livescan and may need to obtain other necessary testing/clearances and provide us with authorization to contact former employers.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Design and lead STEM/Coding engaging group activities, keeping students motivated, ensuring high participation, and adapting activities to suit different age groups and energy levels.
- Provide dedicated homework assistance and small-group tutoring, helping students understand core concepts, practice study skills, and complete assignments.
- Maintain active supervision of students during transitions, snack time, and recreational periods, implementing positive behavior management strategies to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment, adhering to all program safety protocols and check-out procedures.
- Assist with daily operations, including taking attendance, preparing activity materials, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Serve as a point of contact for parents during pick-up, providing brief, professional updates on student progress or behavior.
