About The Position

iCook/ iSTEAM After School is an innovative educational company that provides a fun, hands-on after-school cooking and nutrition education program for children aged K-4. The program focuses on enriching children's lives by teaching them to love food through cooking, eating healthful dishes, and learning about different cultures and food stories. The iSTEAM program emphasizes hands-on and observable experiments. Instructors will teach provided lesson plans related to basics of Engineering and Tech, Chemistry, Science through Art, and more. The company is looking for individuals passionate about education, food, and making a difference in children's lives, offering a flexible, part-time schedule with classes in convenient locations. Educators come from diverse backgrounds including nutritionists, educators, students, chefs, and stay-at-home parents seeking extra income.

Requirements

• Experience working with large groups of children (e.g., in a school setting, summer camp).
• Enthusiasm for teaching, cooking, and nutrition.
• Effective classroom management skills.
• Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged during class.
• Punctuality and reliability.
• Access to a reliable form of transportation.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead after school cooking/STEAM classes for elementary students (K-4), engaging them with fun and creative recipes/experiments, new foods, and introducing them to new cuisines and cultures.
• Teach provided lesson plans on nutrition and healthy eating in a fun and engaging manner.
• Introduce children to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners, and other curriculum-based concepts.
• Purchase groceries for each class based on provided recipes (reimbursed separately).
