About The Position

URBANA SCHOOL DISTRICT #116 is seeking to fill multiple After School Programming Teacher positions at Yankee Ridge Multilingual Elementary. This role involves preparing and implementing engaging lessons and enrichment activities for students, fostering a welcoming classroom environment, and collaborating with support staff. The teacher will also be responsible for progress monitoring, documentation, requisitioning materials, encouraging family involvement, and supervising students. This position is for after school programming only and is contingent upon grant funding. Preference will be given to internal building staff and then district staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree from an accredited college or university, with certifications and endorsements as applicable.
  • Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.
  • Ability to assess children and knowledge of childhood development.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively on a collaborative team.
  • Ability to effectively work with students with a history of behavioral, social/emotional and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and responses.

Nice To Haves

  • Classroom experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working in an After School Program, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare creative and engaging lessons for day to day instruction and enrichment activities.
  • Implement lessons in a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that assists students assigned to the classroom with achieving specific educational goals.
  • Create a classroom environment that is welcoming to all students.
  • Collaborate with support staff assigned to the classroom to develop general classroom procedures, goals, schedules, behavioral expectations and classroom activities for students.
  • Plan and implement activities inside and outside of the classroom that expose a child to a variety of learning experiences and broaden the child's perspective.
  • Administer progress monitoring screeners to determine student growth in math and reading and documenting student performance.
  • Take daily attendance and complete other required documentation as assigned.
  • Review, develop, and requisition materials for the classroom.
  • Work in partnership with the Coordinator to plan and encourage family involvement in the education of their children.
  • Supervise students as assigned by the program coordinator.
  • Perform any and all additional duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.
