About The Position

The After School Assistant supports the school site leader and supervises children in before- and/or after-school programs and during school breaks. The role works in QCUSD before- and after-care settings, intercession camps, and/or summer camps, helping maintain children’s safety and an environment that meets Department of Health Services childcare licensing requirements. This is an hourly position scheduled for 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for a term of 181 days (9 months). Compensation is according to the QCUSD salary schedule for the applicable position, with benefits provided under QCUSD District policy.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Twelve months of experience as a teacher/caregiver aide; or 12 months volunteering in a child care facility; or enrollment in a vocational training program.
Must pass a background clearance.
Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Excellent attendance record.
CPR/First Aid certified.
Enjoys working with children.

Responsibilities

Support QCUSD’s vision, mission, and goals.
Monitor and assist children to ensure their safety in before- and after-care settings, intercession camps, and/or summer camps.
Maintain an environment that complies with Department of Health Services childcare licensing requirements.
Work collaboratively with peers and support children across a variety of ages while maintaining student confidentiality.
Set up rooms for activities and clean up afterward.
Learn assigned plans and be prepared before children arrive.
Operate and care for program equipment.
Attend required staff meetings and training as directed and required by licensing and the district.
Interact positively with parents and/or guardians.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
