After School and Recess Associate

About The Position

Resurgence Hall is hiring an After School and Recess Associate to support its daily aftercare program for Resurgence Hall scholars. The program serves scholars in grades K–8 and includes outdoor recess supervision, enrichment activities, and quiet reading while scholars wait for their families to pick them up. The associate plans and leads the program and activities, helps maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment, and uses appropriate school-wide classroom management. The role calls for someone energetic, detail-oriented, optimistic about scholars’ potential, committed to building relationships, and open to feedback and ongoing learning. The position is part-time, Monday through Friday, with one of two schedules: 12 p.m.–5 p.m. or 1 p.m.–6 p.m. Additional mandatory paid hours are required for professional development. Compensation is $20 per hour. The job is physically demanding and may involve extended periods of standing and walking and lifting objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent or above.
At least one year of prior experience teaching, coaching, or working with elementary- or middle-school-aged children.
Experience teaching in a low-income community.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead an aftercare program for grades K–8.
Provide a safe, inviting, exciting, innovative learning environment after the school day.
Plan and lead safe, organized, and exciting daily recess and community connections activities.
Engage in effective and appropriate school-wide classroom management.
Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Operations and School Service.
