About The Position

The School Age Lead supports the YMCA’s youth development mission by helping ensure the health and safety of children and assisting School Age Assistants with delivering age-appropriate educational programs. The role includes engaging positively with members and families to enhance their experience and support children’s growth. This part-time position floats between the listed locations and has flexible hours, with summer hours potentially available through the Summer Camp program.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Physical ability and stamina to perform the job duties, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking; bending, stooping, and reaching; and lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
Ability to travel outside the building.

Responsibilities

Ensure children’s safety and maintain confidentiality.
Create engaging, interactive, and motivational curriculum activities.
Arrive on time and in uniform, setting a positive example for staff.
Communicate with the School Age Team Lead and attend and participate in departmental meetings.
Partner with School Age Assistants to foster teamwork.
Monitor children’s activities at all times and never leave children unsupervised.
Follow parent/guardian sign-in and sign-out procedures to document attendance.
Follow provided curriculum activities and interact with and motivate children.
Supervise and engage children in positive, fun, and educational activities.
Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions; report accidents, incidents, and hazards according to procedure.
Follow employee handbook policies, rules, and regulations, and obtain and maintain required training.
Provide feedback and address concerns courteously, using active listening, reflection, and response skills; resolve situations promptly.
Adhere to the work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
Accept additional assignments appropriate to the role.
