About The Position

This comprehensive and intensive training institute prepares educators to return to their locals as facilitators. The course, 'Managing Behavior in School Communities,' provides effective strategies for managing challenging behavior across a variety of school settings. It examines and explores root causes of challenging and disruptive behaviors, requiring skill sets in pedagogy grounded in trauma-informed and restorative practices, navigating physical and virtual environments, and balancing personal and professional demands and their influence across learning communities. This is a 40-hour train-the-trainer course that offers two hours of graduate credit through Trinity Washington University. The course may be accessed virtually with a live trainer or through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning. It is designed for grade levels K-12.

Requirements

  • Internal Applicants only
  • Member PEA
  • Personal commitment to district improvement.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in classroom management, instructional methods, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Demonstrates ability to build and maintain trust with peers.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership skills.
  • Full dues paying member of the PEA.

Nice To Haves

  • Attend Summer Educator Academy July 9-14 2026 for train-the-trainer preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Connects AFT PD training to the Princeton Paradigm.
  • Participates in state AFT PD conferences and training.
  • Participates in AFT PD schedule planning.
  • Coordinates with partnering University for course credit if available (at least one trainer for each course).
  • Tracks hours and assignment completion for staff working toward Princeton Credits.
  • Completes National AFT PD Course training (travel, lodging, and food are covered).
