About The Position

The Astronomy, Mathematics, and Physics Department at Regis University is seeking affiliate faculty to teach in-person astronomy and physics laboratory courses. Affiliate faculty are hired on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, on a semester-by-semester basis. The courses include AS 251 Principles of Astronomy Lab, PH 205A General Physics Lab with Trigonometry I, and PH 305A General Physics Lab with Calculus I.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and facilitate active problem-solving in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with Department course coordination policies.
  • Keep complete and accurate grade records.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Communicate regularly with students and the department chair, including via Regis-provided email.
  • Maintain regular office hours to provide students with academic support appropriate for the teaching assignment-- 1 hour per week.
  • Participate in designing their own course in consultation with the chair of the department.
