About The Position

The Quality Engineer evaluates and appraises suppliers’ manufacturing capabilities, establishing process baselines against documented commodity checklists and quality management system (QMS) special processes. The role establishes part-quality evaluation plans from materials requests through receipt and provides resolution and disposition of nonconforming materials, ensuring adequate corrective action. This is a supplier-focused role requiring strong oral and written communication to manage supplier quality assurance and compliance across major programs, from design through production. The engineer evaluates manufacturing, inspection, and testing processes, equipment, and mechanisms; uses statistical analysis to assess nonconforming products and materials; participates in QMS audits; and ensures corrective measures meet reliability standards and documentation requirements. The role also works with design, incoming materials, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and research and development as they relate to product and process quality. The position applies Lean and Six Sigma quality engineering methods and requires hands-on knowledge of mechanical machine-shop components, assemblies, subsystems, and systems. It emphasizes root cause and corrective action (RCCA), corrective and preventive action (CAPA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), process improvement, and process standardization. Work is performed in typical office conditions while coordinating with the Quality management team, the TRIGO team, and external customers. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; occasional extended hours and weekend overtime may be required. The job includes physical activities such as prolonged sitting, light lifting, occasional walking and other movement, and occasional long-distance driving to suppliers. The work environment’s noise level is usually moderate to high.
