About The Position

ARES Corporation seeks an experienced electrical circuit analyst to support Blue Origin’s Lunar program. The role focuses on independent electrical simulation and Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCA/WCCA) of aerospace circuits and RF components to verify performance against NASA and industry-standard requirements from beginning-of-life through end-of-life conditions, accounting for tolerances, temperature, aging, radiation, and environmental extremes. The analyst evaluates worst-case performance of RF circuits used in lunar systems, including low-noise amplifiers, solid-state power amplifiers, mixers, filters, oscillators, switches, PLLs, and software-defined radio front-ends. The position works independently with minimal oversight and collaborates with Blue Origin engineering teams to provide technical evaluations, margin assessments, and design recommendations. Well-qualified remote candidates will be considered. Candidates local to the Denver metro area, including Blue Origin’s South Denver / Highlands Ranch presence, who are willing to work a hybrid schedule are preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in RF circuit design, analysis, or simulation for aerospace, space systems, or high-reliability electronics, including significant hands-on WCA/WCCA experience.
  • Demonstrated experience independently performing WCA/WCCA or equivalent detailed electrical performance analysis on RF, microwave, or high-reliability analog circuits for aerospace, space, or similarly critical applications.
  • Strong proficiency with SPICE-based circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or equivalent, including Monte Carlo, parametric, and sensitivity analysis capabilities.
  • Knowledge of RF circuit performance parameters and worst-case considerations, including stability, impedance matching/VSWR, gain/noise figure, power compression, linearity, phase/group delay, and packaging/layout effects.
  • Experience incorporating environmental, aging, and radiation effects into analyses and applying part derating practices for space applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings clearly to customers and senior technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while maintaining technical rigor and accountability.
  • Familiarity with radiation effects on RF components and integrating radiation data into WCA.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RF/microwave tools such as Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) or equivalent, including harmonic balance and S-parameter analyses.
  • Direct experience supporting commercial space programs, such as Blue Origin, Artemis-related, or similar lunar/human spaceflight efforts, or high-reliability RF systems for NASA/DoD programs.
  • Experience developing or reviewing WCCA reports according to industry standards.
  • Background in schematic capture, PCB layout awareness for RF parasitics, or model correlation with hardware measurements.
  • Experience with related analyses such as parts stress analysis, signal integrity, or reliability assessments.
  • RF, microwave, or analog emphasis in the degree field.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform electrical simulations and WCA/WCCA on aerospace RF and mixed-signal circuits using Extreme Value Analysis (EVA), Root-Sum-Square (RSS), and Monte Carlo methods.
  • Account for initial part tolerances, temperature coefficients, aging, radiation effects including TID, supply variations, and layout and packaging parasitics.
  • Execute analyses in accordance with NASA and industry WCA/WCCA requirements and guidelines; develop and maintain WCCA plans, compliance matrices, and supporting documentation.
  • Build and maintain part variation databases; develop, review, and correlate SPICE and RF models, including S-parameters and nonlinear models, with hardware test data.
  • Incorporate electromagnetic effects where relevant to RF performance, including gain, noise figure, VSWR, stability, compression points, intermodulation, and phase noise.
  • Work with Blue Origin engineering teams to define analysis scope and review circuit designs and schematics.
  • Evaluate worst-case performance against requirements, identify risks and margins, and recommend design mitigations or verification approaches.
  • Present technical findings and rationale in reviews.
  • Produce rigorous WCCA reports and supporting analyses.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering, reliability, safety, and other disciplines on interface requirements and mission assurance.
