About The Position

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full-time, early-career Aeronautical engineer for Aerodynamics. This position is part of the team that supports the aerodynamics and performance of Lockheed Martin’s most advanced fighter aircraft, including the F-16, F-22, and F-35. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, process, and analyze aerodynamic data derived from conceptual design tools, wind tunnel testing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and flight testing. These efforts directly support the continued airworthiness, performance, and mission effectiveness of these aircraft. When existing data-processing tools are enhanced or new capabilities are required, the candidate will have opportunities to contribute to software development efforts that enhance analysis and data management capabilities. For this particular position, the selected candidate will perform aerodynamic analyses within the Integrated Fighter Group (IFG), supporting aircraft configuration changes and external weapons carriage. This role is critical to the sustainment and modernization of the F-16 and F-22 fleets. The candidate will serve as an integral member of the aerodynamic team, helping evaluate and integrate new capabilities for aircraft development, production, and sustainment programs. The aerodynamic data developed and analyzed in this role will be used to compute aircraft performance characteristics such as range, turn rates, takeoff distances, and overall mission effectiveness. Results from these analyses will be presented at program design reviews and incorporated into pilot checklists, Aircraft Performance Manuals, and Stores Limitations Manuals. The position requires close coordination with Aircraft Chief Engineers and other technical leaders responsible for the successful execution of engineering activities. This role also offers occasional opportunities to participate in offsite wind tunnel testing, perform CFD-based aerodynamic analyses, support flight test activities, and engage with U.S. Air Force personnel and industry partners through technical symposiums and planning meetings focused on current and future sustainment initiatives.
