About The Position

The Aerial Lift Trimmer trims, prunes, and removes trees using a bucket truck or other equipment and tools. The role performs tree maintenance and clears vegetation from utility lines while following and helping enforce safety practices. Trimmers maintain tools and equipment, support crew members, and may perform storm work, including out-of-town travel for storm restoration when needed. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to pass a background check and drug screen. The employer participates in E-Verify, and applicants must meet Form I-9 work authorization requirements. The position has no direct reports.

Requirements

• Previous professional experience as an aerial lift trimmer in line clearance is required.
• Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal.
• Must be able to identify tree species.
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and safe operating procedures near electrical conductors, as well as aerial emergency techniques.
• Must be able to work and maneuver at considerable heights in varying and adverse weather conditions.
• Must have physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception, and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Must be able to administer and implement emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and applicable first-aid techniques.
• Must be able to quickly move out of a potential danger area.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this safety-sensitive position.
• Must meet I-9 work authorization requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries is preferred.
• Previous aerial lift experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Assist with preparing the truck and materials needed for each day under the General Foreperson’s direction.
• Perform professional tree maintenance activities as directed by the General Foreperson.
• Clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines and remove branches and tree material.
• Clean up and dispose of debris.
• Maintain and track tools and equipment used in daily operations.
• Practice climbing and tree maintenance skills to improve professional proficiency.
• Assist other crew members with daily activities.
• Protect employees and the public from hazards by enforcing safe job practices, keeping the work area clean and orderly, and communicating frequently with co-workers.
• Perform storm-work duties as needed.
