About The Position

The Aerial Lift Trimmer trims, prunes, and removes trees using a bucket truck or other equipment and tools. The role performs utility vegetation maintenance, including clearing trees and brush from utility lines, removing branches and tree material, and cleaning up and disposing of debris. The employee helps prepare the truck and materials, maintains tools and equipment, follows and promotes safe work practices, and supports other crew members. Storm restoration work and out-of-town travel may be required when needed.

This role has no direct reports. The position requires working at considerable heights and in varying or adverse weather conditions, observing electrical hazards, using appropriate procedures near electrical conductors, and being prepared to perform emergency rescue and first-aid techniques. The employer states that applicants must pass a background check and drug screen as required and meet I-9 work authorization requirements.

Requirements

• Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries is preferred; previous aerial lift experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent education is preferred.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations.
• Identify tree species.
• Be familiar with electrical hazards, appropriate operating procedures near electrical conductors, and aerial emergency techniques.
• Work and maneuver at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather conditions.
• Possess physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception, and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Be able to quickly move out of a potential danger area.
• Be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Pass a background check and drug screen as required for the job.
• Meet I-9 work authorization requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Assist in preparing the truck and materials for each day as directed by the General Foreperson.
• Perform professional tree maintenance activities as directed by the General Foreperson.
• Clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines; remove branches and tree material.
• Clean up and dispose of debris.
• Maintain and keep track of tools and equipment used in daily operations.
• Continue practicing climbing and tree maintenance skills to improve professional skills.
• Assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities.
• Protect employees and the public from hazards by enforcing safe job practices, keeping the work area clean and orderly, and communicating frequently with coworkers.
• Perform storm work as needed.
• Travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
• Administer and implement emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and applicable first-aid techniques.
