Advocacy & Human Rights Fundraiser - $20/hr + Bonuses
About The Position
Public Outreach is hiring passionate, outgoing people to join our North Jersey fundraising team. You'll represent leading nonprofit organizations working on issues like human rights, civil liberties, social justice, animal protection, and ending cruelty. This is face-to-face fundraising where you'll work with a team throughout North Jersey, speaking directly with members of the public about important nonprofit campaigns. You'll start conversations, talk about important issues, explain why they matter, share how nonprofits create change, inspire people to become monthly donors, and work toward individual and team fundraising goals. You will receive regular coaching and support from experienced leaders. This is not petitioning or volunteer work; you will be asking people directly to financially support nonprofit organizations through monthly donations. Campaign assignments can change over time, but the purpose remains similar - helping nonprofit organizations build the public support they need to create lasting change.
Requirements
- Passionate about human rights, social justice, or animal protection
- Curious about what's happening in the world
- Comfortable meeting and talking with new people
- Able to discuss serious issues with empathy
- Comfortable hearing different perspectives
- Resilient after hearing "no"
- Open to feedback and coaching
- Motivated by clear goals
- Excited to learn and improve
- Are 18 or older
- Are legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
- Can reliably travel to fundraising locations throughout North Jersey
- Are comfortable working outdoors and being active throughout your shift
- Are comfortable approaching and speaking with strangers
- Can communicate confidently in English
- Are comfortable asking people to become monthly donors
- Are willing to receive coaching and work toward fundraising goals
Nice To Haves
- Experience in advocacy, volunteering, animal welfare, community organizing, theatre, hospitality, education, customer service, fundraising, canvassing, or sales can translate especially well - but isn't required.
