The Advisor/Student Engagement and Retention Coordinator provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to enrich the undergraduate student experience for the School of Communication (CMNS) in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology (FCAT) in collaboration with the School Director, Undergraduate Program Chair, School Manager, and the FCAT Director of Student Affairs. The role participates in strategic recruitment initiatives, events and activities developed and implemented by the FCAT Dean’s Office, provides academic advice and administrative support to undergraduate students (primarily first and second year) in accordance with University, Faculty, School and program policies, procedures, and regulations. The role participates in planning, coordination and promotion of student engagement and retention events in liaisons with administrative and academic personnel, community members, and external organization personnel. The role recruits, trains, and supervises student ambassadors, co-op students, and/or volunteers involved in student activities. This position provides mentoring, guidance, and support to CMNS undergraduate student groups (CMNSU) and clubs.
