About The Position

USAA is seeking a dedicated Advice Director to serve as the advice expert for a specific subject area. This role is responsible for developing USAA's point-of-view on critical topics impacting members, informing the creation of actionable advice and recommendations embedded in member experiences across various channels. The position involves technical validation of advice messaging, engaging additional expertise, and leading the development of scenarios to model the impact of advice on member financial security. The role requires using research to understand member advice needs, coordinating with lines of business for alignment, and monitoring market trends, competitive intelligence, and regulatory issues to update points-of-view. Ensuring risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree (12 years of experience in lieu of a degree).
  • 8 or more years of experience specific to the subject matter supported to include: property and casualty, life and health insurance, banking products, retirement and estate planning, investments, and military.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Financial Planner ® Designation.
  • Experience in implementing solutions – bringing things to life.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning, financial advising or similar role.
  • Expert knowledge of content strategy & Search engine optimization best practices.
  • Content creation experience – longform article and/or video script writing.
  • Experience/skills in presentation, including public relations (podcast, radio, speaking events, Media events).
  • 2+ years of Product management and/or Experience Owner experience.
  • Marketing campaign experience (creative or strategy).
  • Sales, service, product domain knowledge.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the advice expert for a specific subject area and lead the development of USAA's point-of-view on that subject.
  • Create compelling points-of-view to inform the development of relevant and actionable USAA advice and recommendations.
  • Provide technical validation of advice messaging and engage additional expertise as needed.
  • Lead the development of scenarios that model the impact of advice recommendations on member financial security.
  • Use internal and external research to understand member needs for advice within the specific subject area.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain USAA's advice point-of-view to support identified member needs.
  • Coordinate with lines of business and other internal partners to ensure alignment of points-of-view.
  • Collaborate to ensure the availability of USAA's point-of-view to members and employees through appropriate channels.
  • Monitor current member insights, competitive intelligence, industry and economic outlooks/trends, and regulatory/legislative issues.
  • Assess impacts of insights, trends, and issues on points-of-view and lead appropriate updates.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
