About The Position

An Advanced Technologies Engineer develops strong relationships with Toyota Automated Logistics business units and provides pre- and post-go-live support for Advanced Technology projects. The role ensures systems continue to operate at optimal levels throughout their lifecycle and that clients are satisfied with ongoing system performance. The engineer supports installations, system optimization, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and the transition from project delivery to ongoing support. The position also contributes to sales and customer engagement activities, including site tours, blog articles, and trade organization events. The role requires 50% overnight travel, with travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics, and participation in an on-call rotation to help provide 24/7 emergency support.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
Mechanical and electrical experience implementing advanced technologies.
Understanding of Exacta Software and how it interfaces with advanced technologies for logistics solutions.
Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Material handling automation design and sales experience.
CAD experience, including AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Work with the Director of Corporate Strategy on advanced technologies Toyota is considering as a supplier.
Act as a liaison between Advanced Technologies and Toyota for support and maintenance issues.
Work with the Unified Support Manager to support advanced technologies that existing Toyota Support Personnel cannot handle.
Create standards for the mechanical installation and electrical wiring of advanced technologies.
Work with Project Managers and Site Supervisors during installations, spending time on site to ensure work meets company standards.
Support the Manager of Mechanical Installations and team in internally installing advanced technology solutions.
Partner with Project Managers to verify that sites meet necessary requirements before installation begins.
Help Project Managers optimize technologies after installation to achieve peak customer performance.
Train site teams to optimize advanced technologies for peak performance.
Create troubleshooting guides for advanced technology end users and Toyota employees.
Help maintain installations through yearly site visits with support personnel for systems under warranty or covered by paid support.
Ensure firmware is up to date and maintenance is performed in collaboration with Toyota Support Engineers.
Create preventative maintenance plans for advanced technology end users.
Work with the Systems Maintenance Manager to provide preventative maintenance services to end users.
Work with the Engineering Manager to create standard workstation-area designs and layouts around AutoStore ports and related workflows, including pick-to-tote, carton delivery, pick-to-carton, and pick-to-bagger.
Conduct advanced technology support training for Bastian Solutions and client personnel, including maintenance staff, project engineers, project managers, BSS teams, service technicians, Toyota Support, and sales staff.
Work with the Unified Support Manager to ensure enough resources are trained to provide 24/7 emergency support, and participate in the on-call rotation.
Train with BSS to check and service databases linked to advanced technology performance.
Formalize Super User and Maintenance training.
Provide high-level technical expertise to minimize reliance on manufacturers.
Provide go-live support to project teams to build system knowledge and ease clients’ transition to support.
Attend support kickoff meetings to transition responsibility from project teams to support teams.
Monitor manufacturer updates and ensure advanced technology systems stay up to date by distributing released updates to clients.
Aid in the sales process when requested.
Maintain positive relationships with Toyota's Advanced Technology clients and use those relationships to promote site tours with Toyota Automated Logistics sales staff.
Write blog articles and host trade organization events to promote advanced technology offered by Toyota Automated Logistics.
Follow information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report suspected security incidents.
