About The Position

An Advanced Technology Engineer develops strong relationships with Toyota Automated Logistics business units and provides pre- and post-go-live support for Advanced Technology projects. The role ensures systems continue to operate at optimal levels throughout their lifecycle and that clients remain satisfied with system performance. The engineer works across strategy, project delivery, installation, support, maintenance, training, and sales activities. Responsibilities include supporting technology selection and implementation, setting installation and maintenance standards, optimizing systems, preparing clients and internal teams to support systems, and maintaining relationships with clients. The position requires 50% overnight travel; travel expenses are paid by Toyota Automated Logistics.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
Mechanical and electrical experience implementing advanced technologies.
Understanding of Exacta Software and how it interfaces with advanced technologies for logistics solutions.
Material handling automation design and sales experience.
Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
Follow information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report suspected security incidents.
Able to travel 50% overnight; travel expenses are paid by Toyota Automated Logistics.

CAD experience, including AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Work with the Director of Corporate Strategy on advanced technologies Toyota is considering as a supplier.
Act as a liaison between Advanced Technology providers and Toyota for support and maintenance issues.
Work with the Unified Support Manager to support advanced technologies beyond the capabilities of existing Toyota Support Personnel.
Create standards for mechanical installation and electrical wiring of advanced technologies.
Work with Project Managers and Site Supervisors during installations, including on-site oversight to ensure work meets company standards.
Support the Manager of Mechanical Installations and team in enabling Toyota to install advanced technology solutions internally.
Partner with Project Managers to verify that each site meets necessary requirements before installation begins.
Help Project Managers optimize advanced technologies after installation to achieve peak customer performance.
Train site teams to optimize advanced technologies for peak performance.
Create troubleshooting guides for advanced technology end users and Toyota employees.
Help maintain advanced technology installations through yearly site visits for systems under warranty or covered by paid support.
Ensure firmware is up to date and maintenance is performed in coordination with Toyota Support Engineers.
Create preventative maintenance plans for advanced technology end users.
Work with the Systems Maintenance Manager to provide preventative maintenance services to end users.
Work with the Engineering Manager to create standard designs and layouts for workstation areas around AutoStore ports, including pick-to-tote, carton delivery, pick-to-carton, and pick-to-bagger applications.
Conduct training for Advanced Technology support roles at Bastian Solutions and for clients, including Maintenance, Project Engineers, Project Managers, BSS Team, Service Technicians, Toyota Support, and Sales Force.
Work with the Unified Support Manager to ensure sufficient resources are trained to provide 24/7 emergency support; participate in the on-call rotation.
Train with BSS to check and service databases linked to Advanced Technology performance.
Formalize Super User and Maintenance training.
Provide high-level technical expertise to minimize reliance on manufacturers.
Provide go-live support to project teams, gain system knowledge, and ease clients’ transition to support.
Attend support kickoff meetings to transition systems from project teams to support teams.
Monitor manufacturer updates and ensure Advanced Technology Systems are kept current by distributing updates to clients when released.
Aid in the sales process when requested.
Maintain positive relationships with Toyota's Advanced Technology clients and use those relationships to promote site tours with Toyota Automated Logistics sales staff.
Write blog articles and host trade organization events to promote Advanced Technology offered by Toyota Automated Logistics.
