About The Position

The Cleveland Clinic Children’s Cardiology and Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is an intensive, 12-month program designed to transition Certified Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (CPNP-AC) and Physician Assistants (PA) into practice in the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Center. The fellowship combines clinical training with mentorship, professional development, leadership training, and organizational orientation. Fellows develop the critical-thinking, diagnostic, and clinical skills needed to manage complex congenital heart disease and provide safe, efficient, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in a multidisciplinary, team-based setting. Fellows begin with a boot camp covering the fundamentals of practice and receive protected weekly didactic instruction through case studies, lectures, and simulation. Clinical rotations span cardiac and critical care services, with clinical mentors assigned to each location. Fellows are supervised and developed by APPs and physician experts. Professional-development opportunities include mentorship and a structured one-on-one experience focused on developing and delivering APP education or completing a quality project, with an option to submit an abstract or peer-reviewed article to a national society. The fellow works under the supervision of an APRN/PA preceptor and/or physician preceptor for no longer than 12 months. The fellow will be hired into a full-time, salaried position for a term not exceeding 12 months and will be eligible for the full-time benefits described in the Total Rewards Brochure. After successful completion of the fellowship, the fellow may apply for open positions at Cleveland Clinic Children’s; continued employment is not guaranteed. The APP role includes assessing patients, establishing working diagnoses and treatment plans, collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team, educating patients, and supporting continuity and quality of care. The position requires the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams. The schedule is listed as 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with shifts identified as day/evening/night/weekend.
