About The Position

EmergeOrtho is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to assist a supervising physician in providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care. The role involves performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, collecting and organizing patient history and physical data, and exercising a degree of independent judgment in determining appropriate treatments and dispositions. The provider is responsible for documenting all clinical interactions in the patient’s chart. The position may include intermittent coverage in the operating room, urgent care, and other clinics. The provider also participates in quality improvement and research programs and attends educational and department meetings. EmergeOrtho is a physician-owned orthopedic practice with locations across North Carolina.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program.
Physician Assistant license required.
Medical training from an approved program.
At least two years of experience as a Physician Assistant.
Good knowledge of medical office software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and medical practice software.
Familiarity with EMR programs.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients by taking appropriate histories and performing physical examinations.
Order laboratory, radiological, and special studies.
Perform diagnostic procedures, including physical examinations, phlebotomy, catheterization, joint injections and aspirations, and vaccine administration.
Perform therapeutic procedures, including wound suturing, foreign body removal, incision and drainage of abscesses, fracture and dislocation reduction, splinting, casting, and injections.
Assist the surgeon in the operating room as designated.
Read and interpret imaging studies and laboratory reports.
Initiate life-saving measures as needed.
Diagnose and treat minor illnesses of EmergeOrtho employees.
Contact patients by telephone as appropriate.
Document all clinical interactions in patients’ charts.
Participate in quality improvement and research programs.
Attend educational and department meetings.
Provide intermittent operating room, urgent care, and other clinic coverage.
