Advanced Field Service Technician

About The Position

Wheeler is seeking a full-time Advanced Field Service Technician in Hurricane, Utah. The technician performs repairs and maintenance on Caterpillar engines, equipment, and dealer support equipment at assigned field locations outside the shop. The role requires following safety procedures and using appropriate tools and software to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Journeyman-level shop technician or five years of equivalent-level experience.
Flawless motor vehicle driving record.
Ability to repair engines, including Tier 4 Final systems; conduct engine failure analysis; repair fuel and lubrication systems; and perform fluid sampling.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
Ability to remove, install, test, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, and replace powertrain systems.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to safely climb up and down equipment.
Computer and technological literacy.
Knowledge of basic hand tooling and drive tooling up to ¾ inch.
Writing and grammar skills.

Responsibilities

Follow the Safety Program to prevent injuries and accidents, including using safety tooling, attending safety meetings, wearing proper PPE, and identifying and controlling workplace hazards.
Conduct repairs on assigned jobs for equipment of all makes and models.
Contribute positively to the team environment as a team player, self-starter, and responsible, driven, positive, humble, and willing-to-learn colleague.
Attend all team meetings.
Operate forklifts safely.
Properly and safely operate truck-equipped cranes.
Properly and safely operate heavy equipment.
Clean and organize assigned trucks and equipment.
Use job-related software, including SIS, CAT ET, DBS, ServiceLink, and Time Collection.
Input repair information.
Use diagnostic software.
Properly and accurately use precision measuring instruments.
Track work hours.
Complete service reports.
Order the parts necessary to complete jobs correctly.
Contribute to improvement initiatives by submitting process improvement ideas.
Lift up to 75 pounds without assistance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
