About The Position

As an Advanced Test Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will advance the quality and reliability of aerospace products through test engineering practices. You will lead the development and execution of sophisticated test solutions for Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs), analyzing detailed test requirements and designing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems to customer specifications. The role includes creating test strategies, plans, acceptance procedures, and design verification processes, as well as developing custom test equipment and fixtures. You will perform RF test setup, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of complex assemblies, and develop and maintain automated test software using LabVIEW and other programming tools. You will also conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations, perform product qualification and environmental stress testing, generate technical reports, manage test data systems, and support laboratory operations. Precision work under microscopes for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis is required. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and is based in Richardson, Texas, on a hybrid work schedule. The work supports mission-critical aerospace electronics and contributes to the safety and efficiency of air travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of RF experience specific to ATE for RF/microwave components, including component development and testing and building rack-and-stack test equipment.
  • At least 3 years of test software development experience, including LabVIEW, Python, MSQL, C, or C++.
  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or a high-tech electronics industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and Excel.
  • Must be a U.S. person, defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience developing ATE software and operating RF test equipment, including wafer probe stations, VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and RF calibration standards.
  • Strong RF characterization expertise for GaN/GaAs MMICs, including S-parameters, large-signal, two-tone, and stability testing through Ka-band.
  • Proficiency interpreting schematics and technical drawings and applying core electronics and microwave theory.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test fixtures, PCB design and assembly, including wire bonding MMIC devices for test readiness.
  • Ability to perform precision work under a microscope with sub-micron geometries.
  • Familiarity with DoD/military qualification and testing standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to work cross-functionally and independently, accountability, and initiative.
  • Adaptability, problem-solving ability, a continuous improvement mindset, and strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain automated test software for ATE systems using LabVIEW, Python, C, C++, Visual Basic, and other industry-standard test development tools.
  • Analyze customer specifications to define MMIC test requirements, configurations, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and implement test plans covering ATE configurations, fixtures, and software and hardware interfaces.
  • Perform RF characterization of MMIC and semiconductor devices, including S-parameters, output power, noise figure, and two-tone measurements.
  • Set up, calibrate, and execute RF test systems and on-wafer probe testing using appropriate standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex RF circuits using microwave theory.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and generate detailed technical reports on test results and performance.
  • Manage laboratory operations, including test databases, equipment calibration, asset tracking, and vendor procurement support.
  • Develop custom test equipment, including fixture design and fabrication, and coordinate efforts to enhance team test capabilities.
  • Perform failure analysis and root-cause investigations for MMIC devices and RF assemblies.
  • Execute product qualification and environmental stress testing to meet industry standards.
  • Support laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and test data system management.
  • Perform precision work under microscopes for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis.
