About The Position

The Adult Services Director works closely with the Adult Services Department and Family Services team members in coordinating culturally relevant events, activities, individual service plans, and partnerships. This role provides support to guardianship clients by filing of guardianship petitions and maintaining contact to ensure needs are met. The Director serves as a model of exemplary cultural identity for people in recovery, demonstrating that recovery from crime victimization is possible and sharing suggestions for positive steps toward recovery. The position carries an active caseload, provides assessments and resources for guardianship needs, and attends court hearings. The Director coaches guardians in the independent use of community supports, assesses and reports any indication of abuse or neglect, and supervises the Adult Services Department Case Workers, including performance evaluations and time management. This role also manages all Adult Services Department related budgets and grants, ensuring all reports and communications are completed. Additionally, the Director helps identify and overcome barriers to full participation in community resources and supports connections to community-based, mutual self-help groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Tribal and Forest County Community culture (i.e., Potawatomi, Sokaogon).
  • Knowledge of records management and basic accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of crime victimization and resilience principles.
  • Ability to take an average of 18 weeks of On-Call responsibilities each year.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens.

Nice To Haves

  • Social Worker License preferred.
  • Guardianship / conservatorship background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carry an active caseload of identified community members needing assistance with case planning and assessments.
  • Provide assessments and resources to determine guardianship needs.
  • Attend court hearings regarding client guardianship matters.
  • Coach guardians in the independent use of community supports.
  • Assess, report, and make recommendations for any indication of abuse or neglect.
  • Supervise Adult Services Department Case Workers, including performance evaluations, time management, and review of time & effort reporting.
  • Manage all Adult Services Department related budgets and grants, ensuring completion of reports and communications.
  • Identify and work to overcome barriers to full participation in community resources.
  • Support connections to community-based, mutual self-help groups.
