Adult Recovery Court Probation Officer
About The Position
The Hanover Adult Recovery Court is seeking a dedicated and motivated Probation Officer to join its multidisciplinary team and play a meaningful role in helping individuals achieve long-term recovery and successfully move forward in their lives. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the courts, community partners, and program participants while providing supervision, accountability, and support throughout the recovery process. Requirements
- Must have knowledge of the criminal justice system, community corrections, judicial systems and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to compile facts and information into concise court reports.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and case management.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to work some non-standard hours including evenings, weekends and/or on call as needed.
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or related field, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience.
- Criminal Records Check, including fingerprinting
- Must obtain valid Driver's License within 30 days of employment to be eligible to operate a county vehicle
- Successful completion of DCJS/CORE training
- VCIN certification within 90 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with Recovery Courts or Specialty Dockets strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate individuals referred by the court for ARC eligibility.
- Supervise offenders and monitor court/program compliance.
- Maintain case management records and data input.
- Administer and observe drug testing.
- Participate in weekly team staffing meetings.
- Testify in court when required regarding participant compliance.
- Monitor pending court cases/dispositions via VCIN and Supreme Court Databases.
- Conduct home and curfew verifications.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
