Jefferson County is seeking well-qualified and motivated Probation Officer for its Family Court Department. Probation Officers are responsible for supervising juvenile offenders who have been assigned court-ordered supervision. Employees in this job class conduct interviews with juvenile probationers and their guardians, perform home/school/site visits with probationers, prepare various forms of paperwork (e.g., court report, social history, assessment of risk), testify in court on behalf of probationers, and attend professional development events (e.g., conferences, seminars, workshops). Probation Officers have no supervisory responsibilities to subordinate personnel and work in a variety of different settings including the detention center, offices, courtrooms, schools, and clients’ residences.
