About The Position

Emory University School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a full-time psychologist for its outpatient faculty. This role is open to academic rank and is ideal for someone with experience working with patients across the lifespan, particularly adolescents and families facing addiction-related challenges. The position offers opportunities in clinical care, education, and research within the expanding Addiction Services/Addiction Alliance of Georgia at Emory Healthcare. The primary responsibilities include providing patient care to adolescents and families, supervising and teaching within addiction psychiatry fellowship and psychology training programs, participating in research or quality improvement initiatives, and engaging in team-based care. Clinical duties involve brief assessments and psychotherapy (individual, family, group) for minors with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, as well as their families. The position is located at the Emory Addiction Center at Wesley Woods Hospital.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited graduate program
  • APA accredited internship
  • At least one-year supervised postdoctoral training
  • Licensed or license eligible in Georgia
  • Strong background in patient care
  • Strong background in supervision and teaching
  • Strong background in research or quality improvement
  • Strong background in team-based care

  • Established areas of emphasis in treatment of substance use disorders in minors
  • Distinct areas of focus that would provide needed clinical services (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions)
