About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist with experience or interest in treating substance use to join its growing outpatient faculty at the Emory Addiction Center. An ideal candidate for this position would have interest and expertise in treating adolescents 12+ with co-occurring substance use disorders. There is flexibility in dividing clinical time between our adolescent and adult services based on level of interest. This position will include joint faculty appointment at Emory University School of Medicine and Emory Healthcare and will offer the opportunity to participate in clinical care, education and program development. Support staff for nursing, intake scheduling, and case management will be provided. Applicants should be eligible for an unrestricted license in the state of Georgia and be board certified in Psychiatry and board eligible in Child/Adolescent and/or Addiction Psychiatry.

  • Obtaining board certification will be a requirement for retention.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have a combined and integrated interest in clinical, research, and teaching activities.
  • Appointment at any level beyond Assistant Professor will require a successful record of external funding to support research activities, administrative experience, and an active publication record of accomplished research.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical outpatient addiction care, teaching and collaboration are priorities for this position.
  • All faculty are encouraged to supervise residents and fellows.
  • Proportional on-call coverage with an average of 4 weeks per year is an expected clinical responsibility with cross coverage availability for vacations and conferences.
  • Successful candidates will work within a multidisciplinary treatment team with expertise in substance use disorder treatment.
  • The clinic team includes nursing staff and Patient Care and Patient Service Coordinators who conduct intake scheduling and facilitate case management for patients.
  • The position will include joint faculty appointment at Emory University School of Medicine and Emory Healthcare.
