About The Position
The Adobe Commerce Sr. Technical Architect is the technical authority on out-of-process extensions, serverless infrastructure, and performance engineering within Adobe Commerce and ACCS. Working in an AI-first engineering culture, the architect champions AI-assisted software development, builds AI microservices and agents using Adobe App Builder, and optimizes Edge delivery performance through automated code reviews and performance modeling. The role establishes technical standards and patterns for AI-driven extensibility, secure and upgrade-safe development, and performance optimization. It also rapidly develops proof-of-concepts for AI agent integrations, smart checkout flows, and novel Edge blocks. Perficient describes itself as a global AI and technology consulting firm. Requirements
- 8–12+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years as a Lead or Technical Architect on Adobe Commerce (Magento 2).
- Advanced competence using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude/ChatGPT APIs to write, refactor, and test code.
- Experience building or consuming AI/LLM endpoints within App Builder or Node.js services.
- Technical mastery of PHP, Node.js, GraphQL, Adobe App Builder, Adobe I/O Events, React, and Fastly/CDN Edge configurations.

- Adobe Certified Master - Adobe Commerce Architect certification.
Responsibilities
- Architect out-of-process microservices using Node.js and Adobe App Builder, and API Mesh setups, including custom AI agents, webhooks, and automated data pipelines.
- Establish team-wide best practices for AI code generation, automated test creation using TDD/BDD, AI code review gates, and automated security vulnerability scanning.
- Optimize Core Web Vitals, Edge caching, and GraphQL query efficiency, using AI diagnostic tools for predictive bottleneck analysis.
- Enforce coding standards, secure coding practices, PCI compliance, and upgrade-safe App Builder patterns across development teams.
- Build proof-of-concepts for custom AI agent integrations, smart checkout flows, and novel Edge blocks using AI-assisted development tools.
