About The Position

Austin Oaks Hospital is seeking Admissions Registered Nurses for Weekend Nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 7p-7a). This role involves responding to incoming calls for referrals and admissions, assessing patients' psychiatric and medical status, and ensuring accurate documentation in the computer system and on proper forms. The nurse will also be responsible for ensuring referral patient medical record information is complete and that nursing and clinical staff are informed of the patient's condition/history. Additionally, the role includes copying and distributing referral material, assessing and intervening in crisis situations, providing leadership to mental health technicians, contributing to treatment plans as part of an interdisciplinary team, and administering prescribed medications and medical treatments.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications (can be obtained during orientation).
Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen.
State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.

Nice To Haves

One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Respond to incoming calls to the hospital to accommodate coordination for referrals/admissions.
Provide assessment of patients' psychiatric and medical status.
Ensure all inquiries, referrals, and admissions are documented accurately in the computer system.
Document notes regarding referrals and upcoming admissions on proper forms.
Ensure all referral patient medical record information is completed.
Ensure nursing and clinical staff are adequately apprised of the patient's condition/history.
Ensure referral material is copied/distributed and prepared in unit charts as required.
Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations.
Provide leadership and direction to mental health technicians.
Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
Administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by Physician.
