About The Position

The Recruiter reports to the Admissions & Recruitment Director with the primary duties of assisting the Director and the Assistant Director with planning, managing, and administering the functions of the Admissions & Recruitment Office. Assists with overseeing the development, implementation, and management of programs and other initiatives to enhance SWOSU’s admissions and recruitment efforts. The recruiter will learn the Enrollment Team structure and actively contribute to meeting their goals. Additionally, the Recruiter will maintain an understanding of the important roles of the Enrollment Team Departments and how their contributions impact SWOSU’s enrollment efforts. Assists in the planning and coordination of SWOSU’s New Student Orientation program. Acts as a resource for the Admissions & Recruitment Office and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal skills, presentation, planning, and organizational skills
  • Must be willing and able to perform job related travel.
  • Must maintain a current and valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
  • Utilize office equipment

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Assist in coordination and management of the general recruitment efforts for SWOSU
  • Assist in the development of an innovative recruitment plan for attracting and retaining an academically talented and diverse student population
  • Produce and provide prospective students and their families with accurate, timely, and necessary information and forms needed for post-secondary study at SWOSU. This includes the dissemination of information regarding admission, financial assistance, and scholarship opportunities available to prospective students
  • Initiate the recruiting and admission process by contacting prospective students via high school and college visits, attending college/career fairs, direct mail campaigns, publications, and through alumni relations and referrals
  • Assist with the cultivation and response to student inquiries by mail, email, telephone, and visits.
  • Will gain expertise and maintain knowledge of software programs such as Recruit, Argos, Colleague, and other key systems
  • Provide opportunities for personal admissions counseling, campus tours, and departmental visits for students who are considering enrollment at SWOSU
  • Serve on SWOSU’s New Student Orientation team. Involved in the planning, organizing, developing, and coordinating the orientation program. Including the selection, coordination and training of the student orientation leaders, and New Student Orientation summer programs such as Camp Duke and Welcome Week activities
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with counselors and administrators at both the high school and community college level around the region
  • Assist with the supervision of student personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluate performance and make recommendations for personnel actions; motivate student employees to achieve peak productivity, and performance
  • Develop and disseminate admissions and transfer information through presentations and publications, working in conjunction with on-campus and off-campus constituents as well as statewide and regional contacts
  • Assist in the coordination of SWOSU’s concurrent enrollment program. This includes working with area high school counselors and students along with disseminating and collecting documents needed for admissions and concurrent enrollment
  • Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as managing the collection of prospective students data, including beginning freshman and transfer students, assist in coordination of special recruiter/relations events, SWOSU’s annual curricular contest, serve on SWOSU committees and task forces, and attend meetings, workshops, and in-services.
