About The Position

The Admissions Assistant at Rio Vista Behavioral Health provides recreational activities that support patient well-being, socialization, and participation in treatment. The role involves planning and leading individual and group activities, adapting programs to patient needs, documenting interventions and progress, maintaining a safe environment, and offering compassionate, professional support to patients and their families. The position is PRN and involves overnight shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification required; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.
• De-escalation/restraint certification required; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.
• First aid may be required depending on state or facility.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree in activity therapy or a related field.
• Previous recreation experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of the patient population served by the facility.

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and promote interest in recreational activities for patients and their families.
• Welcome new patients by introducing them to other patients and staff, explaining programs, and encouraging participation.
• Explain activity rules and instruct participants with a range of skill levels.
• Document activity interventions and patient progress in medical records according to facility requirements.
• Seek supervision and support when complications arise while working with a patient individually or in a group.
• Enforce safety rules, prevent injury, and modify activities to meet the needs of specific groups.
• Organize and set up equipment used in recreational activities.
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers; acknowledge and work to resolve unmet patient needs and complaints; prioritize patient safety.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
