The Deschutes County Road Department is responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the County road system, consisting of approximately 900 miles of roadway. ABOUT THE JOB: As an Administrative Support Technician, you will have the opportunity to interact with and provide prompt and courteous service to our customers. This position is responsible for administrative and customer service duties such as telephone, processing transactions, creating forms and documents, data entry, scanning, and directing public to appropriate places or staff. This position is the primary contact that the community has with the department, and the impression from that interaction reflects on the quality of our operations and the positive customer experience. This position is a Monday to Friday, 7:30a.m. to 4:00p.m . shift. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years of administrative support experience; OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
  • Strong human relations skills and the ability to interact with and communicate clearly with all types of people, including elected officials, management, the public, and co-workers.
  • Basic knowledge of clerical and office procedures and methods.
  • Computer use and data entry.
  • Customer service and direct interaction with the public.
  • Entering data and numerical information into a computer system with speed and accuracy, and maintain electronic records, files and databases.
  • Task-switching in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple situations.
  • Working independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
  • Must have dependable transportation and be able and willing to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer service and confidentiality while providing information and assistance to clients, visitors, and County employees in a busy environment.
  • Prioritize, organize and carry out assignments in a timely and professional fashion with basic supervision.
  • Processes customer requests and transactions, receives payments, completes necessary forms for County services, determines and assesses fees for services; enters account information into database, verifies accuracy of information, prepares reports and files documents.
  • Receives, reviews, and processes technical, legal, and financial documents; reviews accounts, reports, records, and other documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with County procedures; collects data to maintain records and prepares summary reports.
