About The Position

This position is responsible for providing customer service, administrative, and departmental support for the Utilities Department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices.
  • Knowledge in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Knowledge in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
  • Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephone and greet visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel; responds to complaints and requests for service; maintains records to ensure effective response.
  • Dispatches maintenance crews in response to service requests; relays information to work crews in the field.
  • Maintains department files and records.
  • Prepares work orders using Hiperweb software in support of customer account adjustments.
  • Records road cuts and sidewalk installations.
  • Disseminates weekly standby schedule.
  • Records new meters sold.
  • Reconciles Bank of America transactions for 3 divisions.
  • Enters GA811 Locate requests.
  • Creates compliance trainings for Utilities department.
  • Coordinates the Star Employee Program
  • Creates content for Utilities Newsletter
  • Assists with coordinating Utilities Community Outreach program events.
  • Disseminates weekly maintenance schedules in the absence of the Senior Support Specialist.
  • Enters purchase requisitions.
  • Prepares letter, memoranda, and other correspondence.
  • Performs customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Creates information postings for department events using Canva software
  • Submits data for monthly reports.
  • Processes hydrant rentals and Environmental Truck Inspection invoices.
  • Updates department’s webpage.
  • Performs related duties.
