About The Position

The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find work and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces. The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities. We are seeking an Administrative Supervisor to provide direct supervision over all employees within the Vocational Preparation Section of the Charles McDowell Rehabilitation Center. Responsible for oversight and coordination of all instruction provided at the Center.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of professional administrative experience.
  • A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manages curriculum requirements, completes scheduling for staff and students, monitors qualify of the training, stays informed about new technologies and curriculum options.
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise all instructional staff to ensure adequate coverage. Conduct staff meetings, provide ongoing training and support team development.
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team by participating in meetings and committees related to quality assurance, safety, program development, and overall operational improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to facility policies, state regulations, and OVR program requirements.
  • Review progress reports for accuracy and adjustments needed to student training plans.
  • Attend team meetings for students to provide updates to student and their team regarding services at the Center
  • Act as the primary contact for instructional concerns for students and staff.
  • Serve on the on-call rotation for 24/7 coverage and support.
  • Fills in for Facility Administrator as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
