About The Position

With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Administrative Supervisor serves as the hospital operational oversight leader across all shifts in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. The Administrative Supervisor is responsible for facilitating patient movement, staffing, emergency management (both medical and facilities), clinical coordination and collaboration across all departments. The Administrative Supervisor plans for, leads, and coordinates the provision of quality care and service from a hospital wide perspective. In the off shifts, the Administrative Supervisor also functions as the liaison for departments that do not have onsite leadership during non-business hours. In collaboration with administrative directors and managers, the Administrative Supervisor provides leadership, consultation and collaboration in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • 3 years nursing experience
  • Patient-and Family-Centered Practice-Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care.
  • Cultural Awareness-Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.
  • Effective Communication-Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care.
  • Able to promote high levels of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_NJ - State of New Jersey

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and direction for operational activities of the organization, department(s), units or inter-departmental activities including efficient coordination of patient movement and flow across the health system including to the appropriate level of care in collaboration with the unit leadership.
  • Supporting department leadership activities in managing clinical excellence and safe patient care delivery to achieve compliance with professional, regulatory bodies, hospital and department standards.
  • Enforcing strategies for sustaining a “patient-centric” culture.
  • Communicating to the staff the quality of the patient experience through feedback.
  • Partnering with the Nursing Leadership Team to improve the colleague experience.
  • Providing leadership to enforce workforce safety and environment of care strategies for staff, patients and families in partnership with security services and administrative leaders.
  • Collaborating with resource management staffing coordinators to ensure optimal deployment of workforce resources.
  • Balancing the schedule after self-scheduling is complete.
  • Managing vacation requests.
  • Ensuring holiday requirements are met and fairly distributed.
  • Managing last minute changes due to call offs or surges in activity.
  • Reconciling MyTime and MySchedule prior to Director sign off on Payroll.
  • Serving as a clinical resource regarding policy and procedures, patient standards, performance improvement and risk management issues.
  • Expressing self orally in individual or group situations in a manner that delivers the message to nursing staff and other health professionals in an accurate and appropriate manner.
  • Supporting and contributing to a culture that allows staff to feel appreciated, included and valued.
  • Facilitating the goals and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the Hospital.
  • Coaching and supporting leaders and staff for continual improvement.
  • Ensuring all Annual Mandatory Education modules are completed on time.
  • Identifying opportunities for ongoing education/professional development.
  • Ensuring all licenses & certifications are up to date (CPR, ACLS, HWC, etc).
  • Providing regular communication to the team regarding operational changes and other time-sensitive information.
  • Integrating/coordinating the Supervisors across all 3 campuses.
