About The Position

This position is located at Marion Correctional Institution, Marion, North Carolina. Marion Correctional Institution is a Close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 793 offenders. This position reports to the Administrative Officer. The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of Administrative Officer responsibilities during periods of leave or absence, ensuring compliance with agency policies, procedures, and established deadlines.
  • Supervises staff and performs oversight of accounting, trust fund, mailroom, and warehouse.
  • Responsible for managing fixed assets and inventory procedures in compliance with departmental and state policies.
  • Maintain confidential records and sensitive information while ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with NCDAC policies.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.
