The primary purpose of the Clerk’s Office in the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is to assure that the filing, processing, docketing, indexing, recording, closing, and preserving of documents and records of all contested cases that before OAH are complete, and in compliance with the statutory requirements of North Carolina General Statues (G.S. Chapter 150B). The Clerk’s office is responsible for the integrity of all Contested Case Hearings filed with the office. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that the processing, docketing and resolution of all contested cases filed are efficiently and effectively performed within the statutory requirements of N.C.G.S 150B. This position, along with the support of the Chief Hearings Clerk, determines the workflow within the Clerk’s Office. This position is one of the main contacts for individuals calling or appearing at OAH to start the appeals process. This position analyzes and processes petitions filed to ensure completeness, proper case type, filing fee and statutory deadlines.
