This is a temporary position with the Office of State Human Resources, Temporary Solutions division. The primary purpose of this position is to provide legal secretarial, administrative, and other support to the Tort Claims Section attorneys. The employee will perform a variety of office and/or technical tasks to accomplish the specialized processing of information, documents and materials, as well as maintain the database by timely entry of necessary data as required. The employee will oversee closing and achieving closed case files. This includes scanning documents into the achieving system, properly denoting their status in case management and database system, and overseeing the ultimate disposition of the physical file. This position requires screening and routing materials; filing and retrieving information and documents; providing telephone and reception services; typing and proofreading; composing legal documents and correspondence; opening and closing of claims and actions; receiving and processing bills; responding to inquiries from the general public, claimants, private attorneys and State agencies; preparing records and reports, scheduling travel, depositions and meetings; making arrangements for court reporters and room reservations; and tracking cases. The attorney-client privilege must be maintained at all times. The employee is the key player in keeping the office up to date on Division requisition policies and procedures. This employee will provide back up for other support staff in the section as necessary and will handle miscellaneous tasks as may be assigned by a supervisor or the Section Head.
