This position provides senior staff support and comprehensive programmatic leadership in Institutional Advancement, Strategic Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, Events Planning, and Community Engagement Operations. The role serves as the principal advisor to Manoa Executive Leadership and senior administrators on complex community relations initiatives, philanthropic models, and institutional branding campaigns. It involves managing the university's institutional advancement, marketing, communications, media relations, and community engagement functions, establishing strategic direction, operational priorities, and policies. The manager plans, budgets, and directs large-scale initiatives such as capital campaigns, university branding transitions, and community partner collaborations. Additionally, the role formulates and implements policies regarding public communications, crisis media management, donor stewardship, and marketing standards. It establishes divisional goals, key performance metrics, and strategic plans to enhance campus visibility, philanthropic revenue, and community integration. The position also involves conceiving and soliciting sponsor and donor backing for major proposals, providing strategic leadership for division personnel, managing conflicts and performance challenges, and overseeing financial planning and resource allocation. The manager oversees digital operations, develops high-level partnerships with external stakeholders, and serves as a subject matter expert representing the campus at professional engagements. Finally, the role monitors market conditions and trends to develop new strategies for public relations challenges.
