About The Position

The School of Music is seeking a full-time Administrative Services Coordinator. This position performs administrative and academic support in the School of Music requiring a high degree of discretion and independent judgment and gives occasional support to other Performing Arts departments as needed. This position serves as the first point of contact for all visitors to the School of Music and assists, faculty, staff, and students with day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and administrative work experience is required.
  • Some (6 months to 1 year) administrative experience is required.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge and application of oral and written communication and relationship building skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data.

  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Previous administrative experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience supervising student employees or professional staff.
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in music and the performing arts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as coordinator and main point of contact for the School of Music administrative office, triaging requests for information to faculty and staff as needed.
  • Support the daily operations of the School of Music, including, but not limited to, assistance at specialized events and activities, procurement of office and event supplies, and managing School of Music websites.
  • Provide administrative supervision for student monitors in the School of Music and house managers and ushers for School of Music and events. This includes recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling.
  • Track event attendance and visitor data for the School of Music.
  • Other duties as assigned by the School of Music Operations Specialist and the Performing Arts Administrator in support of the School of Music and Performing Arts at Iowa.
