About The Position

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. This position offers the opportunity to supervise a dynamic administrative team, manage critical regional office operations, and contribute to the success of one of the state's largest public service programs. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field.
  • The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees regional administrative operations, including human resources, purchasing, inventory, property control, travel coordination, budget support, and contract management to ensure efficient office operations.
  • Supervises and develops administrative staff by assigning work, monitoring performance, providing training and coaching, and ensuring compliance with Civil Service and LDH policies.
  • Manages regional purchasing, inventory, and property accountability, including procurement, surplus processing, annual inventory, and emergency purchasing activities.
  • Coordinates regional travel, budget, and fiscal activities, including travel authorizations, reimbursements, purchasing card reconciliation, and monitoring administrative expenditures.
  • Administers facility and office support services, including records management, telecommunications, emergency preparedness, maintenance coordination, and office safety.
  • Serves as the regional liaison for human resources, payroll, telecommunications, and administrative services by coordinating personnel actions, resolving operational issues, and ensuring policy compliance.
  • Develops and implements administrative policies, procedures, and process improvements while fostering teamwork, promoting employee engagement, and supporting continuous operational excellence.
